Rabbits are little delightful companions, full of intelligence and love to give. However, caring for these furry friends requires dedication and attention to maintain their wellbeing and happiness.

Here are some essential tips on caring for your bunny bestie:

  • Keep your housemate cosy inside – Creating a safe and cosy indoor environment for your rabbit shields them from potential predators and extreme weather. Just be sure to provide them with ample space to explore.
  • Bunny-proofing – Just like toddlers, rabbits love to explore with their mouths. Rabbits love to chew on spicy hay (wires) as well as everything nice!
  • Veterinary care – Regular check-ups with a rabbit-savvy veterinarian are crucial for monitoring your rabbit’s health, desexing and keeping them up to date with vaccinations. Rabbits are secret agents at hiding signs of illness, so regular 6-monthly veterinary exams are essential.
  • Easter Awareness – While rabbits may seem like cute Easter gifts, they are a ten-year living commitment! Responsible pet ownership is being aware that rabbits are for life, not just for Easter.

The love shared with a rabbit is truly special (that’s why I have so many at home!) If you’re ready to welcome one of these deserving companions into your heart and home, consider adoption from our shelters, where many bunnies eagerly await their forever home!
