RSPCA Victoria launches new online learning platform

Published on 13 February 2022

If you’ve been keeping up with RSPCA Victoria’s Education initiatives, you’d know we’ve been trying extra hard to keep students engaged during COVID-19 restrictions.

That’s why RSPCA Victoria is incredibly proud to launch AWARE (Animal Wellbeing: Awareness, Responsibility and Education). It’s a totally free, online resource that gives students 24/7 access to engaging content about animal welfare, pet ownership and empathy. And they can experience it all from the comfort of their homes.

AWARE operates through two virtual portals, one for teachers and one for kids.

The teachers’ portal provides a wide range of exciting classroom activities and exercises that deliver meaningful animal welfare messages. The best part is that this coursework has been designed to complement the Australian Curriculum and easily slots into existing classroom programs.

The kids’ education portal gives students a highly interactive online experience. Important pillars of animal welfare are explained, and the program helps develop children’s respect, love and understanding for all creatures great and small.

AWARE has been successfully launched in South Australia, with more than 130 schools currently signed up.

Does this sound like something you’d like to try? If you’re a teacher, simply click here to here to register your school.

If you’re a student or parent, you might like to direct your school or teacher to our AWARE web page so they can see for themselves what it’s all about.

It’s fun, it’s free and it teaches kids valuable lessons that will stay with them for life.
