On 15 October 2022 RSPCA Victoria will cease operating the Epping Animal Welfare Facility. An extract from the statement by the City of Whittlesea and Moreland and Darebin councils includes the following information:
“In October 2022, the City of Whittlesea will take over management of the Animal Welfare Facility in Epping, partnering with Moreland and Darebin councils.
The decision to take pound services in-house will allow Council more flexibility in their operating models, allow the needs of the community to be locally serviced and to take ownership of the shared municipalities’ domestic animal management priorities.
The Facility will be renamed and launched to the community later in the year, with more information to come shortly.”

RSPCA Victoria looks forward to continuing to work closely with the local councils to support animal welfare through rehabilitation and rehoming. This change enables RSPCA Victoria to increase its focus on ending animal cruelty and improving welfare through targeted prevention initiatives in areas of greatest need.
