Rio a 21 year old Purebred Arabian. She had been used as a brood mare her whole life and has sadly missed out on having an owner who she can call a friend. She came to the RSPCA emaciated, difficult to catch and would not let anyone touch her back legs. She has gradually become more and more settled and can now be caught, groomed happily and have her feet seen to by the farrier. Rio looking to find a home with the likelihood that she will continue to build trust in someone and live out her retirement as a paddock companion. She has been an amazing friend to the horses she has been with, and has not been bothered at all when they are taken out of the paddock (permanently or for a short time). She is extremely respectful to lead, can be rugged and de-wormed. Rio does have Cushings and is currently on 1 tablet a day, she has no signs of previous laminitis and is perfectly sound. She requires a home that can be confident and patient in handling her feet to ensure she do not go backwards (videos available). Rio has just had a dental check up and is now ready to meet you.
