Paws, Claws, and Pyjamas: RSPCA Victoria’s Pet Poll is back!

Published on 5 March 2026

Does your cat get a dedicated birthday cake? Does your dog hog the blanket every night? It’s time to dish the dirt on Victoria’s most beloved roommates in RSPCA Victoria’s Pet Poll.

The annual survey invites animal lovers across the state to share the hilarious, heartwarming, and honest secrets of life with their pets.

From quirky habits to the things that matter, this is your chance to weigh in on burning questions like:

  • The Bedroom Debate: Is your pet an “on the floor” sleeper or a “centre of the king-sized bed” cuddler?
  • The Social Life: What’s your favourite thing to do with your pet?
  • The Party Animal: Do you celebrate your pet’s birthday?

RSPCA Victoria Fundraising Manager, Jodie Kuriata, says the poll is about more than just fun facts; it’s also about understanding the heart of Victorian homes.

“The response to our first poll was incredible, with nearly 13,000 people sharing their stories,” Ms Kuriata said.

“Whether it’s finding out 77% of Victorian pets are essentially the ‘head of the household’, or uncovering the real-world worries owners face, these insights help us support our community better.”

While the fun stuff steals the headlines, the Pet Poll also captures vital data with previous results showing a generational divide in “pet-xiety,” with Gen Z more concerned about emergency vet bills, while older owners were more worried about their pet’s future care.

The Pet Poll is free, online-only, and open for a limited time. Make your voice (and your pet’s bark/meow) heard!

By speaking up for your furry friends, you’ll also enter the draw to win one of three generously donated $100 Peter Alexander vouchers; perfect for snuggling on the couch with your furry friend.
