Hi there, my name is Billy and if you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an expression of interest form and a RSPCA staff member will contact you as soon as possible.
I am an adorable older gentleman looking for a very special home to live out my twilight years. I have a super fun personality and am still an active boy, enjoying the occasional hoon around the paddock with my friend when the time feels right!
Unfortunately being an older horse I require a little extra care (not much!) because I have some health issues which is why I need a special someone with a very big heart to welcome me into their home. I am extremely easy to handle and well mannered. I am easy to catch, rug, worm, vaccinate and stand quietly for the farrier. I am always an excellent patient if the vet needs to come visit me too.
I have an autoimmune disease known as EOTRH (Equine odontoclastic tooth resorption and hypercementosis) that affects my teeth and can be very painful if left untreated. Due to this I had all my upper incisors removed in November 2017 and have recovered nicely. I don't need these teeth to have a good quality of life - as you can see from my photos I have bounced right back and look pretty damn good for an older gent with some teeth missing! I just need to be provided with adequate appropriate feed (I struggle to graze on short grass but if long grass isn't available I must have 24/7 access to good quality hay).
I have also been diagnosed with Cushing's disease which is easily managed with a tablet given to me once a day before my morning feed. It really isn't too much extra work to offer me a treat with a hidden tablet every day!
Don't let these minor inconveniences turn you off - I really am a fun horse to have around, I have a heart of gold and a great sense of humour. I'm fantastic with other horses of all ages (I'm also a pretty good nanny gelding for weanlings if that's what you're looking for) so if you're looking for a lovely, quiet gem to add to your herd please consider adopting me - I may have a couple of quirks but I'm definitely worth it!
I am desexed.
