Animals in sport and entertainment
Animals used in rodeos, circuses, zoos and racing are often not afforded the the Five Freedoms. These animals are forced into highly stressful situations that in some sports, place them at a higher risk of injury or even death. > Learn more and take action

Sadly our feline friends are undervalued in Australia. Cats suffer from higher rates cruelty, higher rates of abandonment are often not reclaimed from shelters and are often undesexed resulting in more cats than there are homes. > Learn more and take action

Cruelty
Each year RSPCA Inspectors investigate more than 14,337
cases of animal cruelty. Help protect animals by reporting suspected

Duck shooting
For 12-weeks of the year, our native wildlife are shot from the skies in the name of sport. Native waterbirds are critical elements of Victoria ecosystems and should be protected, not forced to endure cruelty.

Farm animal welfare
Farm animal welfare issues include pigs in sow stalls, hens in battery facilities, chickens used in meat production, bobby calves, sheep mulesing and live animal exports. The welfare of Australian farm animals must be protected - humane farming is the way forward.

Fireworks
Fireworks cause animals immense distress. Hundreds of dogs make their way to Victorian shelters every New Years Eve and many others are placed at high risk. Campaign your local council to be proactive in relation to legal and illegal fireworks. > Learn more and take action |

Hoarding
A hidden issue in Australia is the high incidence of animal hoarding.
Large numbers of animals are kept in poor conditions with minimal standards of nutrition, sanitation, shelter, and
veterinary care. These owners often need help and their animals must be protected.

Horse welfare
Horses represent a multi-billion dollar sport and recreational industry, including their use in the racing industry, rodeos and Melbourne's carriage horses. Protecting these horses from harm must be a priority, there is no excuse for compromising welfare. > Learn more and take action

Jumps racing
Jumps racing is an extremely dangerous sport in which horses must jump obstacles at high speed. Despite being a small, unpopular and unprofitable part of Victorian racing, key decision makers allow this cruelty to continue. Help campaign for a ban. > Learn more and take action

Puppy factories
Puppy factories are intensive, large-scale, commercial businesses that mass produce puppies. These puppies and their parents live in appalling conditions and are not afforded the Five Freedoms.
