Lucky little Sugar
Sugar’s previous owners surrendered her into the care of the RSPCA when
it became apparent that they could no longer provide the care that Sugar
so desperately needed.
Weighing only 6kgs, Sugar was emaciated and in urgent need of veterinary
attention. After just four weeks in the expert hands of RSPCA staff and
volunteers, Sugar had doubled her weight and was ready to find a new
home.
It didn’t take long for Sugar to catch the eye of her new owner, who
instantly fell in love with her gentle and caring nature. Sugar is now a
much loved companion and has put her previous life behind her thanks to
the generous support of the community.

Germaine (Kimba) and Sarah's story
Early this year, RSPCA Inspectors responded to a cruelty complaint
involving two kelpies abandoned in a filthy, run down factory, with no
food, water or bedding. When found, both dogs were extremely
emaciated, in urgent need of veterinary treatment and care. After two
months of intensive care and treatment, the dogs, named Sarah and
Germaine (now renamed Kimba), have now been adopted into loving new
homes after leaving their old lives behind.
Sarah and Germaine's previous owner has now been
prosecuted by the RSPCA and has received a 10 year banning order and a
five month Intensive Corrections Order which involves strictly
supervised treatment and community service.
The offender pleaded guilty to:
• Aggravated cruelty.
• Failure to provide veterinary treatment for a sick or injured animal.
• Failure to provide sufficient food and water to an animal.
• Confinement of an animal that is likely to cause pain and/or
suffering.
