RSPCA Victoria Bushfire Assistance RSPCA Staff and Volunteers would like to offer a heartfelt thankyou to everyone who supported our emergency Bushfire Appeal. Donations of almost $4 million helped us provide care and assistance for the many animals affected by bushfires. Your generosity has not only touched the RSPCA, but thousands of Victorians, animal welfare workers and of course, the animals. The funds raised will continue to provide much needed support throughout the coming months via the RSPCA’s Bushfire Animal Assistance fund. Although our Bushfire Appeal has now closed, the RSPCA welcomes your support of our continuing work throughout Victoria. Please click here to donate.
Were you affected by the bushfires and need the RSPCA’s help? Special Assistance Black Saturday – 07 February 2009
RSPCA Staff and Volunteers were amongst the 20,000 people
involved in the fire fighting and recovery efforts across
Victoria. We were on hand to rescue animals, provide
emergency care, accommodation Our Inspectors visited property to property in bushfire devastated regions to search for animals needing help. They worked tirelessly to rescue animals and provide emergency care. Our animal welfare teams worked with traumatised residents who returned to properties in search of animals that they had lost or left behind. They also set up a lost and found register to help reunite families with their beloved pets, and offered lost and homeless pets a place to stay at RSPCA Shelters across Victoria. We worked with wildlife agencies to help capture, transport and treat injured wildlife, providing more than $50,000 worth of veterinary supplies to assist with their rehabilitation.
We provided free veterinary care to animals in need at both
our Clinics and at emergency relief centres. We
also supported individuals needing financial assistance to
cover vet bills for affected animals.
