Batdog, now named Lincoln, is one of many lucky animals that are adopted by generous and loving families. Lincoln’s owner Kristy shared her story of finding him, and making the decision to make him part of her family.
She told us about getting to know Lincoln while he was still in the shelter.
"I had been visiting RSPCA Pets Place Ballarat for a week, and every day would sit on the floor patting him and playing with him.”
Kristy had reservations about adopting a dog that was a little bigger than she was used to. But after learning Lincoln had already been waiting in the shelter for four months, she knew he should be hers.
After making the decision, Kristy and her family arrived at Pets Place just after 9am for a meet and greet. However they were told Lincoln was already on hold for someone else at that stage. Heartbroken, Kristy burst into tears as she truly believed Lincoln was destined for her.
Fate stepped in however, and the first hold for Lincoln fell through. He was always destined to be Kristy’s dog!
After a long discussion about Lincoln’s behaviour and personality, the family decided they were willing to put in the work he needed, and give him the love he deserved.
Kristy now reports that Lincoln loves playing in puddles, riding in the car, going for walks and playing with squeaky toys.
“He sleeps in my sons room on his bed all night. They have a wonderful bond! Lincoln truly is an amazing boy and I couldn't have asked for a better companion.”
